Common questions
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC is the photo format iPhones and iPads use by default since iOS 11. It stores images in about half the space of JPG, but many Windows apps, websites and older programs can't open it. Converting to JPG fixes that.
How do I convert HEIC to JPG on Windows?
Open this page in Chrome or Edge, drop the HEIC files onto the box above, and download the JPGs. No software to install and no Microsoft Store extension to buy.
Is the conversion really free?
Yes. Everything runs on your computer, which costs us nothing, so there's no reason to charge you or limit you.
Does the image quality drop?
Choose PNG and nothing is lost. Choose JPG at 90–100 quality and the difference is invisible for photos while the file stays small.
What about WebP images from websites?
Drop them here too. WebP converts to JPG or PNG the same way. If you do this often, the Chrome extension below adds a right-click "Save image as JPG" option on any page.
Why does my HEIC come out as a blank image?
Some HEIC files use HDR or 10-bit color that browsers can't decode yet. Try choosing PNG, or export the photo from your phone's Photos app as "Most Compatible" first.
Save any WebP as JPG from the right-click menu
The free HeicBolt Chrome extension adds "Save image as JPG" and "Save image as PNG" to your right-click menu, so you never land on a WebP you can't use again.
